Career Life Connections (clc)
Career Life Connections (CLC) is a new course in the BC curriculum that is required for graduation. It involves both curriculum/coursework as well as the Capstone, an individual inquiry-based personal project.

What is the 30 hours / Career Life Exploration requirement for graduation?
Career Life Exploration refers to substantive experiential learning (30 hours or more) that is intended to expand and/or deepen student exposure to career-life possibilities. These hours are meant to be MEANINGFUL, what the student determines is helpful for their career and skills development. These can include:

You may want to use this spreadsheet to help you track your 30 hours requirement (scroll down doc for 30 hrs section). This spreadsheet is NOT REQUIRED for signing off, but a tool to help students identify activities they have been involved in. You will reflect on these 30 hrs, during your CLC course.

What is the 30 hours / Career Life Exploration requirement for graduation?
Career Life Exploration refers to substantive experiential learning (30 hours or more) that is intended to expand and/or deepen student exposure to career-life possibilities. These hours are meant to be MEANINGFUL, what the student determines is helpful for their career and skills development. These can include:
- volunteerism
- service learning
- employment
- fieldwork (i.e. Post-Secondary Day attendance, going to virtual post-secondary info sessions)
- entrepreneurship
- career-related opportunities
- projects focused on an area of deep interest (Capstone work i.e. information interviews with professionals)

- Business may want to get involved with Junior Achievement or take part in local events like the Surrey Board of Trade Young Entrepreneurs' Speed Networking Night
- Health Science may want to apply to take part in one of the Children's Hospital programs
- Education or Childcare may use babysitting work and/or volunteer hours done with a program like Jumpstart
- Engineering may want to attend Triumf Saturday Morning Lectures
